2005 Fun Fly Results

Congratulations Nick Stong, the 2 day winner with a total 6 confirmed "Kills". Nick took home the prestigious 1st place Foamie Combat Trophy.

The event kicked off on saturday with mild winds and not much combat happened until some great thermals rolled through and created some killer lift for about an 1 hr and the combat was on. When the wind changed direction we moved to Dinosaur Ridge and met up with about 6 more pilots that were already battling it out down there. The first 10 kills of the event happened on Dinosaur. Then the rain and heavy weather moved in and we high tailed it back up to the top of the mountain. About 15 pilots on Saturday.

Sunday started out kind of slow for wind. at about 11:00 the wind came in for an AMAZING 1.5 hr session of ALL OUT COMBAT WARFAIR. Estimated 17 combat aircraft up and flying. A cluster of combat, high speed action!. Around 1:30 the wind turned direction again and we packed up camp and headed off to Dinosaur to end the day.

Once we got to Dinosaur the action really heated up. The 13 remaining pilots delt with perfect combat winds and upslope that puts the combat right in your face. many more kills were gained at this final session which lasted about 2 hrs. at about 3:30 we wrapped it up and collected the combat cards and found that Nick Stong whas the Confirmed Combat Champion.
